This statement explains what personal information Cuba Luxury Rent collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website and the enquiries and bookings that come through it.
Who we are
Cuba Luxury Rent is the controller of the personal information described here. We are based in Havana and have worked on the island since 2000.

What we collect
When you send an enquiry
Our enquiry and contact forms ask for your name, email address and phone number, along with the dates, property and party size you are asking about, and anything you choose to write in the message field. If you contact us on WhatsApp instead, we hold the phone number you write from and the conversation itself.
When you make a booking
A confirmed booking requires more: the full names of everyone staying, passport or identity document details, dates of arrival and departure, and the address of the property. We explain below why the identity documents are needed.
When you create an account
Property owners and travel agents can register for an account. That stores the name, email address and contact details you enter, and, for owners, the details of the properties you list with us.
When you simply read the site
Our web server and our security plugin record the IP address, browser and pages requested for every visit, and keep those records for a limited period to detect and block attacks. This happens whether or not you accept cookies, because the site cannot be defended without it. Analytics is different, and is described under Cookies below.
Guest registration under Cuban law
This is the part of our processing that is least like other travel websites, so we would rather you read it than discover it.
Decreto 160 of 2026, published in the Gaceta Oficial de la República de Cuba on 28 July 2026 and in force since 4 August 2026, establishes that those who rent out homes, rooms and spaces must give the designated body of the Ministry of the Interior the identification details of the lessee and of any companions who reside outside Cuba. That applies to foreign visitors and to Cubans living abroad alike.
In practice this means that when you confirm a stay, the names and identity document details of your party are passed on for that registration. We collect them at booking, not at enquiry, and we ask for nothing beyond what the registration requires.
As published, the decree does not set the deadline, the format, the documents to be copied or the channel; the implementing regulations from the responsible agencies have not been issued at the date above. We will update this statement when they are.
We cannot provide accommodation in Cuba without meeting this obligation. If you would rather your identity details were not handled this way, the honest answer is that we cannot take the booking.
Where your information is processed
Cuba Luxury Rent operates from Havana, so your information is processed in Cuba. Cuba is not covered by a European Commission adequacy decision, which means it has not been assessed by the EU as offering a level of data protection equivalent to the one you have at home.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this matters to you. Where we hold your information in order to arrange a stay you have asked us for, we rely on that contract as the basis for the transfer. It also means the guest registration described above is a disclosure to a Cuban government body, made under Cuban law, and neither we nor you can opt out of it while the booking goes ahead.
Our website itself is hosted outside Cuba, and some of the services listed below are operated by companies in the United States and the European Union.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, through the Site Kit plugin, to see how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly where they come from. It sets cookies and sends data to Google. We use it to decide what to write and what to fix, not to identify you personally.
Analytics only runs if you agree to it. The consent banner you saw on your first visit controls this, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the preferences link in that banner. Necessary cookies — the ones that keep you logged in, remember your consent choice and let the site function — are set regardless, because without them the site does not work.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is seen by:
- The property owner or manager of the place you book, who needs your name, dates and party size to hold the property for you, and the identity details required for the registration described above.
- The designated body of the Cuban Ministry of the Interior, for guest registration under Decreto 160 of 2026.
- Google, for website analytics, if you consent to it.
- Automattic, whose Akismet service checks comments and form submissions for spam.
- Our hosting, email, security and backup providers, who store or transmit the data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for anything else.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to two years, so that we recognise you if you come back. Booking records are kept for as long as we may need them to answer a question or a claim about the stay, and for as long as Cuban accounting and hospitality rules require. Account details are kept until you close the account. Security logs are kept for a short rolling period. Analytics data is retained by Google according to the setting in our account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time without giving a reason and without any effect on your booking.
There is one limit worth stating plainly: we cannot delete or withhold information we are required to register under Cuban law for a stay that is going ahead or has already happened.
To make a request, write to contact@cubaluxuryrent.com. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or the UK and you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes to this statement
We will update this page when what we do changes, or when the implementing regulations to Decreto 160 of 2026 are published. The date at the top always shows the current version.
